Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

San Luis, Aurora

The Christmas celebration in San Luis was made more entertaining with a Tree Lighting Ceremony held last December 8 at the Municipal Plaza. Over 1,000 spectators witnessed the multi-colored lights flicker in mid-air signaling the start of the blissful holidays in San Luis. Reverend Father Alexander Sorongon together with Mayor Annabelle C. Tangson and Vice Mayor Teddy A. Macatiag lit the Christmas tree. Joining them were SB Member Francisco C. Maliwanag, SB Member Norminda S. Querijero and SB Member Jayson G. Martinez.

The Christmas tree is located in front of the Municipal Plaza and serves as a pleasant and refreshing sight along the National Highway. With the height of 28 feet and adorned by 6,150 bulbs, colorful ribbons and poinsettia, people would surely take a second glance at this Christmas décor especially during night time.

Reverend Father Alexander Sorongon led the blessing at the start of the program while Mrs. Veneranda C. Marzan, Chairperson of Task Force Jubilee, gave the opening remarks during the ceremony. Intermission numbers were also given by SLNHS Drum and Lyre group, SLNHS Choral Group, San Luis Rondalla, Mount Carmel High School with an interpretative dance, and Day Care pupils of Barangay 2, 3 and 4.

A light snack was served at the Municipal Plaza for all who witnessed the lighting ceremony while hundreds of residents pose for souvenir photos in front of the well-lighted Christmas tree. Now that the Christmas tree is lit up, there’s no more stopping Christmas from coming. The season of love is finally and officially here. There are lots of reasons to smile and be merry.

Mayor Tangson also announced that this Christmas tree display would be a yearly celebration and would start every 8th day of December. There will also be yearly Lantern Parade every 15th of December.
