Cornerstone Laying of San Luis Dormitory

Last July 11, 2009, Mayor Annabelle C. Tangson and Habitat President Relli C. Pableo together with CAVA Habitat Board of Trustees Dr. Antonio Portabes, Mr. Anacleto Bumagat, Dr. Napoleon Taquiling, Habitat Program Administrator Pastora Adriana Saturno and CAVA Habitat Supervisor Alfred Mariano led the Cornerstone Laying of San Luis Dormitory at Sitio Dicaloyungan, Barangay Zabali, Baler, Aurora.

The San Luis Dormitory is a joint project of the Cagayan Valley Habitat for Humanity and the Municipal Government of San Luis which will accommodate students from San Luis studying at the Aurora State College of Technology, Zabali Campus.
There are also volunteers from the Philippine Army led by Major Joey Mondero and members of the Guardians of the Philippines led by their Chairman Mr. Adolfo Bernardo who helped during the cornerstone laying.

San Luis Dormitory is part of the program of the municipality to encourage more high school graduates to go to college thus eliminating out-of-school youths in the municipality. Currently, the municipality of San Luis has a college scholarship program which provides free tuition fee and other allowances to 147 college students.
Also present during the ceremony were Vice Mayor Teddy A. Macatiag, Sangguniang Bayan Member Francisco Maliwanag, Local Management Council Chairman Pastor Rober A. Dadero, Municipal Engineer Rodolfo L. Francisco and other Local Management Council officers.
