San Luis Fiesta ‘09 Day 3: Drum & Lyre Competition

SLNHS and Nonong Sr. Elementary School won the heart of the judges and the people who watched the Drum & Lyre Competition.

Like in the past, the Drum and Lyre Competition is a crowd drawer every San Luis Town Fiesta.
San Luis National High School Band won P20,000.00 cash prize for becoming the champion in the Drum and Lyre Competition secondary level aside from also bagging various awards such as Best in Marching, Best in Group Dance, Best in Music, Best in Cymbals, Best Majorette (Solo Dance), Best Band Master and Best Band Trainor.
In the elementary level, Nonong Sr. Elementary School emerged as champion among four competing schools and also went home with P20,000 cash prize. They also won several awards such as Best in Contest Piece, Best in Uniform, Best in Group Dance, Best in Music, Best Triple Drummer, Best Majorette (Solo Dance), Best Band Master and Best Trainor.

As second placer in the secondary level is Mount Carmel High School who also got the award in Best in Uniform, Best Xylophonist, Best Snare Drummer (Lead Drummer), Best Triple Drummer and Best Bass Drummer.
For the elementary level, San Luis Central School and L. Pimentel Elementary School came in second and third respectively. San Luis Central School got the award in Best in Marching, Best Snare Drummer (Lead Drummer) and Best Bass Drummer. The Best Xylophonist was awarded to L. Pimentel Elementary School while the Best in Cymbals is to Ditumabo Elementary School.

The Board of Judges includes Ms. Juvie Marie M. Mostoles, Ms. Zenaida C. Limbo, Ms. Lucia B. Padilla, P/Insp. Vicor Basil B. Morales and Mr. Peter Macrohon. This year Drum and Lyre Competition is headed by the Chairman Edgardo N. Dukha.
