The Ceremonial Lighting and Blessing of Municipal Christmas Treeled by Mayor Annabelle C. Tangson last Tuesday, December 8, 2009 in line with the Immaculate Conception Day Celebration.

Rev. Fr. Nilvon Co Villanueva, Parish Administrator of San Luis Rey Parish led the blessing rites. Mrs. Veneranda C. Marzan, Task Force Golden Jubilee Chairman also gave the introductory remarks.

The Christmas tree located in front of the Municipal Plaza serves as a one of the eye catching Christmas icons that amazes people of San Luis especially children. With the height of 28 feet and 6,150 bulbs adorned with colorful ribbons and poinsettia, people would surely take a second glance at this Christmas décor especially during night time.

Also present during the ceremonial lighting were SB Member Francisco C. Maliwanag, SB Member Normina S. Querijero, SB Member Jayson G. Martinez and head of offices of the municipality of San Luis.

With the Christmas tree lit up, there is no stopping Christmas from coming. The season of love is finally here and there are lots of reasons to smile and be merry.

MALIGAYANG PASKO SA ATING LAHAT!!!

After all the preparations and hard work of everyone led by our Municipal Mayor Annabelle C. Tangson, the Task Force Golden Jubilee led by Mrs. Veny Marzan and 2009 Pestejos President Annaliza C. Tangson, the 50th Founding Anniversary and Patronal Town Fiesta have finally come. With the theme “San Luis, Bayan Namin Ikinararangal: Noon, Ngayon at Bukas”, it was celebrated with a bang last August 24, 2009 held at the Municipal Plaza.

A thanksgiving mass was held with Bishop Rolando J. Tria Tirona, OCD, DD as main celebrant with Father Noel Valencia, Father Erlo Poblete, Father Nilvon Co-Vilannueva and Father Boyet Valenzuela as co-celebrant. In his homily, Bishop Tirona extends his gratitude to the municipality for having a thanksgiving mass as part of its celebration and congratulated the officials and the people of San Luis for the celebration.

Afterwards, Mayor Annabelle C. Tangson led the Golden Parade together with Vice Governor Gerardo Noveras, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members Mariano C. Tangson and Bobong Ong, actor John Arcilla and the awardees of the 50 Outstanding Citizens of San Luis. Barangay officials, senior’s citizens, DepEd family, municipal employees, students and teachers, SEA-K groups and various organizations paraded and was watched by thousands of people. Street dancers and bands of different schools as well as Binibining San Luis 2009 candidates were also part of the parade.

Pastor Robert A. Dadero led the opening prayer and followed by the National Anthem given by San Luis Chorale and San Luis Rondalia Group.

The welcome remarks were given Sangguniang Bayan Member Norminda S. Querijero, SB Chairman on Holidays, Official Day and Town Fiesta.

The guest speaker Sen. Manny Villar Villar was represented by his wife Hon. Cynthia Villar who is with former Congressman Gilbert Remulla was introduced by our Municipal Mayor Annabelle C. Tangson. Governor Bellaflor J. Angara-Castillo also attended the celebration.

Actor John Arcilla rendered song number to the delight of the crowd.

Closing remarks were given by the 2009 Pestejos President Miss Annaliza C. Tangson.

The event was hosted by the Municipal Assessor Eduardo M. Yambot and Municipal Treasurer Celia G. Martinez.
After the program, Golden Pananghalian was held at the San Luis Sports Complex were buffet lunch was shared by everyone including guests, officials, participants and the people of San Luis.

The celebration of the 50th Founding Anniversary was held last August 21-25, 2009. Other activities were Agro-Tourism Fair, Street Dance Competition, Drum and Lyre Competition, Quest for a Star and the Awarding of the 50th Outstanding Citizens of San Luis.

One of the highlights of the 50th Founding Anniversary and Patronal Town Fiesta of San Luis, Aurora, the municipal government bestowed the 50th Outstanding Citizens Award to residents who have brought honor and pride to the municipality through their accomplishments in their respective fields.

On her message, Municipal Mayor Annabelle C. Tangson one of the night’s awardees congratulated all of the recipients. She also said that the 50 Outstanding Citizens symbolizes every one of us and since we are one community their success is also our success and their honor is also our honor.

The 50 Outstanding Citizens were chosen for their contributions, leadership, visions and for their volunteer services to the community. Awardees were evaluated based on the evidence and support presented in the nomination as to the nature and scope of the accomplishments, and on the committee’s own knowledge of the nominee’s qualifications. The screening committee was headed by the Task Force Golden Jubilee Chairperson Ms. Veneranda C. Marzan.

Part of the 50th Founding Anniversary, all municipal mayor of San Luis was also recognized. They are Hon. Cesario A. Pimentel (1959/1967-1985), Hon. Rosauro R. Tangson (1960-1967/1986), Hon. Severino A. Marzan (OIC -1987), Hon. Angel P. Mendoza (OIC – 1988), Hon. Annabelle C. Tangson (1988-1998/2007-present), Hon. Benigno B. Olivar (1998) and Hon. Mariano C. Tangson (1998-2007).

Both previous and present Vice Mayor and Sangguniang Bayan members of the municipality were also given recognition.

The Gabi ng Parangal was held last August 24, 2009 at the Municipal Plaza. The event was hosted by the Task Force Jubilee Members Mr. Resty Bautista and Mrs. Zenaida Z. Rivera.

Farmers and fisherfolks attended the opening of the agro-tourism fair last Friday August 21, 2009. Mayor Annabelle Tangson and Vice Mayor Teddy Macatiag together with Mayor Jessie Palican of Parregada Guam and Sangguniang Bayan Member Leslie E. Lu of San Pedro led the cutting of the ribbon shown in the picture above.

The Agro-tourism fair is one of the highlights of the 50th Founding Anniversary and Patronal Town Fiesta of San Luis, Aurora. It aims to showcase the municipality’s agriculture products, processed foods and handicrafts such as hats and fans made of sabutan and baskets and the different tourist attractions of the different barangays in San Luis.

The opening ceremony was held after the motorcade participated in by the Binibining San Luis candidates, Philippine National Police, municipal employees, non-government organizations, Sangguniang Kabataan, barangay officials, Rural Improvement Clubs, SEAK’s, farmers associations, San Luis National High School Band and other people from San Luis.

During the opening ceremony, various awards were also given for various contests. L. Pimentel Sangguniang Barangay and RIC won the First Prize for the Gulayan para sa Kalusugan contest out of 25 entries while Barangay Dibayabay won the1st Prize for the Booth Competition. There were also various “pinaka” contests like longest sitaw, biggest squash, longest upo, biggest gabi, biggest chicken and many more.

Mayor Annabelle C. Tangson awarded Palay Marketing Assitance for Legislator & LGU (PALGU) with the amount of P300,000.00. She also awarded 6 units of various materials for non-motorized banca (baroto) to Samahang Mangingisda ng Brgy. Dikapinisan, a guard house and 20 sets of uniforms and equipments for the fish wardens of Barangay Dibut, and a unit of motor engine to Alasanay Fisherfolks Association. Mayor Tangson also awarded P15,000 amount of assistance for white corn production and cornick processing to RIC – Nonong Sr. There were also 10 sprayers from the Department of Agriculture Region 3 awarded to all barangays who participated in the agro-tourism fair.

This year, the agro-tourism fair is chaired by the Municipal Agriculturist Ma. Paz S. Leander and her staff from the Municipal Agriculture Office, Municipal Engineering Office and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office as her members.

Miss Dona Paula Ranillo Santicruz (center) from Barangay 04 was crowned as the Binibining San Luis 2009. Standing 5’9”, Paula who is 18 years old wowed the judges with her beauty and elegance. She also won two special awards namely: Miss Flawless and Miss Fuller Life.

The Search for the Binibining San Luis 2009 was the culminating activity of the 50th Founding Anniversary and Town Fiesta of Sam Luis, Aurora. It was held last August 25, 2009 at the Municipal Plaza, San Luis, Aurora.
Mr. Luke Mijares, former vocalist of South Border serenaded the contestants during the pageant. Former beauty queens Evangeline Pascual, Maria Isabel Lopez and Azenith Briones with John Mercado are the prestigious board of judges.

Other special awards were given away to Miss Divine Veronica Basbas Gomez (Miss Fit n’ Right), Miss Maureen Poblete Nelmida (Best in Swimsuit, Miss Avon), Miss Baby Jane Miemban (Best in Casual Attire, Best in Production Performer) and Miss Maria Raiza Buenconsejo(Best in Gown).

This year Search for Binibining San Luis is led by their Committee Chairman Dra. Maria Pura D. Valenzuela-Uy and Vice-Chairman Jerry Olivar with the staff of the Office of the Municipal Mayor as their members.
